Description

A wireless cable is two or more Safety Simplifiers which transfer the I/O:s via radio between each other. All I/O and safety functions in a Safety Simplifier can be used in another Safety Simplifier wirelessly. If you specify an I/O as an input in one unit you can use it as an output in another unit. Each I/O can be selected as safe Input or Output. Choose the type of Input or Output in our free programming software, Simplifier Manager

Choose the type of Input or Output in our free programming software, Simplifier Manager.

A wireless cable simplifies a lot for installations. You connect the inputs in one place and the outputs in another place without installing a cable.

Decide the total number of Inputs and Outputs (I/O) you want to have wirelessly. If you want an input in one unit to be an output in another unit, you select that in the software.

All the I/O in a Safety Simplifier can be selected as a safety input or output. For example, if you need up to 14 I/O,  select two units with 14 I/O.

In the software, you can also select everything from inputs and outputs to special safety functions.

There are many possibilities which you can read about in the manual and here are some examples:

– Wireless Inputs and Outputs for your installation

– Wireless two hand station – Start and stop

– Door supervision with reset, locking

– E-stop

– 14 inputs and 14 OSSD outputs

– 12 VDC on one Safety Simplifier and 24 VDC on the other.

How many Safety Simplifiers do I need?

First, you select the number of I/O you want to have wirelessly, and then you get the right quantities of Safety Simplifiers.

How many repeaters do I need?

The maximum allowed timeout for the radio is one parameter that decides how many repeaters are needed. You can specify a long and short timeout in the software. The short you can select for safety devices requires a short timeout and a long timeout for other safety devices.

For hold to run devices such as a two-hand station, you usually do not need any repeaters. This type of installation only allows dangerous movements when the pushbuttons are pressed. The machine is stopped when one or both pushbuttons are released. The distance usually is short, and you can use a short time out, down to 20 ms.

Generally, at least one repeater is recommended in most environments. The number of repeaters depends on how good the environment is for radio communication and if there are radio disturbances. The more complex an environment is with movable machines, people, walls to pass, and radio disturbances, the more repeaters are needed.

The closer the repeaters/Safety Simplifiers are to each other the stronger the radio signal will be between them. 100 m between to Safety Simplifiers is possible but usually not practical. Every Safety Simplifier repeats the signal between each other in a system.

For a large installation on a crane 150 x 30 m, they selected 6 repeaters, which works very well. In theory, it could have worked with just a few, but they have both other radio disturbances and a lot of moving inside the area. Therefore, they wanted to have this additional guarantee to ensure they do not get any unintentional stops.

The Simplifier system is very flexible, and you can always add more repeaters into a system but the total numbers of units is 16 today. No programming is necessary, add the repeater’s unique id into the system (id is the unique code you found on the product).

What can I do with a repeater except for repeating the safety communication?

A repeater is a Safety Simplifier. You can use the repeater for Safety functions, information and as a gateway to other bus systems on the market.

Repeater for safety functions:

In the big installation for the crane (mentioned above), the repeaters could have been used for 7 doors in different places in the area 150×30 m. In this case, each of the repeaters would take care of a safety function and repeated the safety signals. This is how the Safety Simplifier system works. All Safety Simplifiers in a system repeats the safety signals.

A repeater unit is a Safety Simplifier. The repeater sees all the safety communication and can use that for its own I/O for safety. You can connect safety devices and machines to the repeater as it is a Safety Simplifier.

Online

You can go online with a safety simplifier system wirelessly to see the function and get information about radio communication quality. If you install the free software, Simplifier Manager, you can study the system’s function in each Safety Simplifier. You can go online wirelessly with Simplifier Monitor connected to USB connection a computer. There is also a USB-contact in each Safety Simplifier to which you can connect a computer.

Repeater for Information – Software Gateway

On a repeater/Safety Simplifier with I/O you can use our Software Gateways to Bechoff, Rockwell, Siemens, and Pluto. This is made via specified I/O in the repeater unit which you connect to standard Inputs on Bechoff, Rockwell, Siemens, and Pluto. You get up to 32 different information signals using 2 outputs on the repeater and 2 inputs on the other system. Free software for each brand of software gateway is available under software on our homepage.

How do I know where to place the gateway?

Generally, in the middle between the other two, if possible. Otherwise, you can connect voltage, 10 – 30 VDC to the repeater/s and walk around with it/them and see the status on the LED: s for communication.

You can also connect a computer wirelessly using Simplifier Monitor. In the Simplifier Manager software you can see how good the radio communication is for the repeater/s in different positions. The software for checking the communication quality is free and included in the Simplifier Manager. You can naturally also connect a USB cable directly to the repeater.
